# Chat settings

Set the spice level, reply style, memory and look of each chat.

Every chat has its own settings. You choose them when you start a chat, and you can change most of them later from **Chat settings** in the chat header.

## Conversation

### Name

Give the chat a name, like *Main story* or *Casual*. It's optional, and it helps when you have [several chats](/help/get-started/multiple-chats.md) with the same companion.

### Response style

| Style | What her replies look like |
| ----------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **SMS** (default) | A few short messages in a row, like texting. |
| **Paragraph** | One longer reply of a few short paragraphs, with her actions written in *italics*. Good for roleplay. |

### Spice level

| Level               | How she behaves                                           |
| ------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Mild** | Flirty and suggestive, never explicit. |
| **Medium** | Builds up slowly and turns explicit after a few messages. |
| **Spicy** (default) | Bold, and explicit as soon as you show interest. |

## Persona

The persona you pick decides who she thinks you are. It's chosen when you create the chat and can't be changed afterwards; to use a different persona, start a new chat. See [Personas](/help/get-started/personas.md).

## Memory

Choose where this chat's memories are kept:

* **Just this chat**: what she learns stays in this conversation.
* **A memory group**: chats in the same group share everything she learns, so you don't have to repeat yourself.

You can change this later. See [Memory](/help/get-started/memory.md).

## Appearance

* **Font size**: Small, Medium or Large.
* **Bubble color**: pick the color of your own messages.

Click **Save** to apply (on a phone, settings open in a window and the button says **Save changes**).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://dreamdolls.gitbook.io/help/get-started/chat-settings.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
